Elite Cranes UK has upgraded two five-tonne Double Girder Electric Overhead Travelling (EOT) cranes for Hutchinson Engineering, increasing their Safe Working Load (SWL) to 6.3 tonnes.

The enhancement allows Hutchinson to efficiently move large structures through their production process.

The project involved the installation of replacement pre-set overload switches, new load ropes, and updated plates and decals.

A proof load test was conducted to verify that the crane structures met satisfactory deflection standards and new overload mechanisms are functioning properly.

The duty ratings for these cranes have been adjusted to FEM: 1 Am (M4).

Elite Cranes UK, in a LinkedIn post, said: “This task was carried out so our good friends at Hutchinson could move a rather large structure through production.

“Great example of our pro-active approach and demonstrates how we are always ready to find cost effective solutions for customers.”

Established in 1979, Hutchinson Engineering specialises in designing and manufacturing complex steel structures.

The company serves various sectors, including telecommunications, oil and gas, onshore and offshore wind, rail, and nuclear industries.

Elite Cranes UK, a family-owned business based in Haydock, Merseyside, and Crook, County Durham, is renowned for its expertise in overhead crane systems.

The company offers manufacturing, modernisation, refurbishment, servicing, repair, and testing of various crane systems and lifting equipment.

Recently, Elite Cranes UK has installed a five-tonne single girder crane and a free-standing gantry in Middlesborough, England, for Valve Asset Solutions (V.A.S).

The installation is set to enhance the hydro-test and repair capabilities for valves and components in the petrochemical sector.

The overhead crane maker installed a 9.2m top-running crane, paired with a ten-metre gantry, to optimise production across two connecting workshops.
