DavyMarkham was named Barclays Commercial Bank Outstanding Business of the Year and awarded the Creative Sheffield, Sheffield Champion Award. Managing director Kevin Parkin was named Rensburg Sheppards Business Person of the Year.
The Sheffield Business Awards are organised by the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce. This year, 150 entries were submitted for the 15 categories.
DavyMarkham’s award for Outstanding Business of the Year was awarded on the basis of its ability to demonstrate commercial leadership and vision. DavyMarkham said it enjoyed record sales in 2009, grew its workforce by 60 over the year and improved training. Parkin’s award was presented after his contribution to the successes seen by the business in 2009, DavyMarkham said.
The Creative Sheffield, Sheffield Champion Award recognised DavyMarkham’s efforts to promote Sheffield’s manufacturing heritage and products. The company said it has effectively been acting as an ambassador for the city and the Made In Sheffield symbol, which the company displays on its corporate branding and marketing material. An ongoing PR programme; the use of iconic Sheffield images in its presentations and literature; and routinely playing host to visiting politicians, business groups, local organisations and schools contributed to this success, DavyMarkham said.
“These titles are rewards for our combined hard work and determination over the past twelve months and beyond,” said Parkin.
“We are huge supporters of the Made In Sheffield initiative and take every opportunity to promote it, wherever in the world we do business.”
