Americas heavy lift contractor Tecnogruas has used an Enerpac SBL500 hydraulic gantry to lift a mobile concrete batching plant for transport from Santiago, Chile, to a new project in the north of the country.

The Liebherr Mobilmix 2.25 mobile horizontal mixing plant when assembled comprises aggregate hoppers and cement silos on their own steel foundations. The plant weighs approximately 50 tons and is 17m long by 3.2m wide and 3m high. The length of the mobile plant’s carrying frame made careful planning essential. Positioning the Enerpac SBL500 gantry close to each end of the frame ensured it remained level throughput the fully synchronised lift onto a flatbed trailer.

“This was a relatively simple but nonetheless delicate lifting project, due to the dimensions of the concrete plant,” said Tecnogruas project supervisor Franyel Moreno. “Our Enerpac SBL500 gantry is the perfect equipment to perform this type of project, guaranteeing a stable and safe lift. A team of four people completed the project in two days, including assembly, lifting and disassembly.”

The Enerpac SBL500 has a maximum lifting capacity of 500t in the first stage and has a third-stage maximum height of 8.6m. It features a fixed boom, steel wheels, and uses the Intelli-lift wireless control system for synchronised movement, increased operator safety and control.

Enerpac operates in the areas of high-pressure hydraulic tools, controlled force products and portable machining, and provides on-site services and solutions for the positioning of heavy loads.
