Robert R. Friedl has resigned from his position as vice president – finance, and chief financial officer (CFO) of US-based materials handling company Columbus McKinnon Corporation Karen L. Howard, the company’s vice president and treasurer, has been named interim CFO

Meanwhile, Herbert P. Ladds, Jr. has retired as chairman of Columbus McKinnon. Ernest R. Verebelyi is his replacement. Ladds said he planned to continue as a director to allow for a smooth transition of the duties of the chairman. A retired group president of Terex Corporation, Verebelyi has also held executive, general management and operating positions at General Signal Corporation, Emerson, Hussmann Corporation, and General Electric.

Stephen Williams has been appointed chief inspector of construction in London, and will take up post on a date to be decided. He is currently head of railway policy.

Ari Kiviniitty, has been appointed chief technology officer and member of the KCI Konecranes Group management team effective October 14, 2005. He will be responsible for the company’s technology strategy and development. He also assumes responsibility for Group wide quality management. He will report to Pekka Lundmark, president and CEO.

Kiviniitty has been with KCI Konecranes since 1983. He is currently vice president within the Standard Lifting Equipment Business Area.

US-based materials handling company FKI Logistex has appointed Gary Savarese as project manager in the Northeast regional office. The company has also appointed Stephen Legg to the position of director, product technology and development. Legg has been with the company for more than 18 years, holding various executive positions, most recently as vice president, business development for FKI Logistex North America.
