Carl Stahl Evita, a subsidiary of Carl Stahl, has supplied and assembled a new magnetic lifting beam designed to handle steel workpieces, making use of Flaig FX-VV400 lifting magnets.
The company’s team developed the solution designed to support lifting operations for steel materials in a variety of sizes.
The configuration is built around the Flaig FX-LT750 S beam and includes two FX-VV400 permanent lifting magnets.
The magnets can be positioned along the beam to adjust for various workpiece dimensions.
The arrangement is specified for flat steel pieces measuring up to 5,400mm by 1,500mm, with the maximum permissible load dependent on factors such as the thickness of the material and the presence of any air gap.
The lifting beam system has a stated capacity of up to 700kg for flat materials with a minimum thickness of 15mm.
Carl Stahl noted that operating conditions such as the thickness and quality of the steel, as well as any gap between the material and the magnet, will affect the system’s lifting ability.
Flaig’s magnetic system includes recoilless, single-handed 90-degree operation.
The equipment is supplied with international operating instructions and documentation confirming compliance with EN 13155 and MRL 2006/42/EE.
The FX-VV400 magnets themselves are designed to lift beams and profiles, including hot components.
The company said the magnets’ elongated design lets them lift narrow beams and profiles, including along internal webs, and achieve full holding force on thinner materials.
A 90-degree double prism feature allows angle profiles to be handled from both the inside and outside, and enables components to be rotated.
Carl Stahl, established in 1880, is based in Germany and specialises in lifting technology and fall protection.
The company operates at 44 locations across three continents, including 22 sites within Germany.

Last month, Carl Stahl installed and commissioned six SWF Krantechnik light crane systems, fitting out a workshop with the ProfileMaster plus ST platform.
