This new partnership will enable Dubai Cranes to fabricate crane beams, gantries and other structural crane parts—up to 300t capacity—from Street Crane kits locally, with the remaining components, including hoists, controls, carriages and electrical equipment still being built and supplied by Street Crane in the UK.

Dubai Cranes will now be able to serve local market demand, typically for cranes up to 25t capacity with a maximum span of 30m, whether single or double girder construction, far quicker due to the substantial crane kit stock the firm will have on hand.

In conjunction with greater collaboration on technical issues between the two firms, the partnership will allow the companies to undertake more complex infrastructure projects in the region.

Dubai Cranes general manager Andrew Kay explained: “Industrial development in the UAE is creating huge demand for high specification industrial cranes. This is especially true in the business cluster based on the Kalifa Port and expanding aluminium industries.

“The Dubai Crane service package covers everything from the initial survey and evaluation of handling requirements, through the design and installation of the crane, to the complete support and service of the equipment throughout its operational life.”

Having already provided 15 bespoke overhead cranes, with capacities between 3t and 50t, for the Emirates Aluminium Company’s $5.7bn new smelting facility, Street Crane managing director, Andrew Pimblett is keen to develop the firm’s influence in the UAE.

He said: “We are delighted to be working with such a high profile and well resourced local partner. Local fabrication of major crane elements not only provides a more responsive service for end users, but also creates value in the local economy, so that this is a win-win for all the project partners.
