Tropical Shipping adds new Kalmar Straddle Carriers

Transport solutions business Tropical Shipping has taken delivery of three Kalmar Straddle Carriers at Riviera Beach, Florida, where they will join a fleet of other Kalmar equipment, including other straddle carriers, reachstackers and terminal tractors.


Tim DiPietropolo, vice president operations, non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and global logistics, Tropical Shipping, said: “Kalmar’s direct support team for straddle carriers has been excellent from the start and we value their continued partnership with our local team. The new straddle carriers will play an important role in helping us reduce both fuel and maintenance costs while also helping to reduce CO2 emissions at our terminal.”

Part of the Saltchuk family of companies, Tropical Shipping operates facilities in selected seaside ports – from Canada to South Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands – to meet customers’ freight-shipping needs to and from the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
