LiftEx 2008, the UK's annual one-day exhibition for the lifting industry, will open its doors later today at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford.

Organised by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), LiftEx will offer visitors the opportunity to meet 40 of the UK's leading suppliers of overhead lifting equipment and services.

The exhibition is open from 09.00-14.00 and admission is free of charge for all visitors. The Kassam Stadium also offers hundreds of free parking spaces directly outside the exhibition venue.

Exhibitors taking part include key suppliers of cranes, lifting equipment, personal safety systems and training, as well as product test, examination and verification services.

Now in its fourth year, LiftEx 2008 will precede the LEEA's AGM and dinner dance.

Derrick Bailes, LEEA chief executive, said: "LiftEx is the UK's only trade show dedicated exclusively to the lifting industry. The Kassam Stadium is a very accessible venue, ensuring that LiftEx will provide visitors with an extremely efficient way of catching up with the latest developments in lifting products and services."

It will be the first LiftEx since LEEA named Geoff Holden as its chief executive designate. After 30 years service with LEEA, Derrick Bailes is stepping down from the post in December, but will continue to work for the association on a part-time basis in a number of other roles.

Holden has worked in the overhead lifting industry since 1976 and joins LEEA from Spanset UK Ltd., where he was sales manager for height safety products. With an honours degree in metallurgy, his professional experience spans a range of senior research, sales, and business management roles.
