First, the electro-released dynamic brake (ERD) is a dry spring-applied brake with electromagnetic release. Applied torque ranges from 5Nm to 25KNm and is adjustable via a nut that compresses the springs. As an option, a hand release with micro-switch can be added. It is the standard solution for electric drive for hoist, travelling hoist, cranes and winches.

The electro-released dynamic heavy-duty brake (ERDHDI) also includes an extra manufacturing process for the friction material and ventilated disc, so that the brake’s heat dissipation capabilities have been multiplied by three compared to the ERD. The brake is particularly suitable for cranes or hoists where high dynamic cycling and compact size are required.

The electro-hydraulic-release dynamic brake (EHRD) is dedicated to high torque applications (greater than 1.5KNm). A hydraulically-actuated piston releases the brake. This design also allows a manual release of the brake via a hand-operated hydraulic pump, which increases the design’s flexibility.

The Electro-release static brake is used for holding and for emergency use only. It is also quiet, making less than 55dB of noise. With a torque range from 170Nm to 6.4KNm, its typical application is in theatre winches.
