The company recently supplied five electric winches to help construct a 1,450m-deep zinc mine access shaft in Finland. Breaking force was ten times nominal load. Each winch spools 420m of wire rope and is controlled by an electronic variable-frequency drive system. Each winch is set into framework so that it can be lowered during shaft construction.
Originally a clockmaker, the company traces its history back to 1832, when it was founded by Auguste-Lucien Vérité, creator of astronomical clocks of Beauvais and Besançon. Winch production began in 1948, which makes the company the first French manufacturer of winches, it claims.
