It has a SWL of 64t at a span of 19.72m with an overall lifting height of 13m. The crane was constructed with steel box girders and has a total weight of 28,360kg. Multiple hoists were required, including three double girder NOVA hoists from SWF Krantechnik with lifting capacities of 60t (FEM 2m), 32t (FEM 2m) and 64t (FEM 1m).
For smooth and precise load lifting and travelling, all motions are equipped with stepless frequency inverter controls, HoistMaster, TravelMaster and MicroMove. A key issue for the design was the individual hoist usage; the electrical control has been designed to offer Stora Enso the best possible usage. Hoist selection can be either hoist one, two or three individually, or tandem operation one+two, one+three or two+three.
Another feature that will assist in the crane’s overall performance in years to come, is the NovaMaster condition monitoring system, where the lifting motion on all hoists is monitored at all times. Furthermore the 64t hoist is also equipped with a motorised hook block, for motorised load swivelling and a special ramshorn hook (double hook) forging, again another necessity for this industry.
Control is via a wireless radio control system, a push button station was also supplied to act as a back-up in emergency cases. A further safety aspect is the warning system, light and sound, which is activated for all travelling movements.
The crane components were all supplied in kit form, from the German hoist manufacturer SWF Krantechnik GmbH, Mannheim, a long time partner of Satateräs.
