The Stromag Group from Germany has purchased Sime, the French manufacturer of industrial disc brakes, from the UK’s Smith T.I. Group.
Stromag produces industrial clutches and brakes. The enclosed Stromag electro-magnetic brakes are mainly intended for medium torque ratings up to 10,000Nm, whereas the Sime disc brakes encompass higher torque ratings up to 50,000Nm.
Sime is market leader in France, Benelux, Denmark, Sweden and China, while Stromag is strong in Germany, UK, USA, Brazil, Italy and the Benelux countries.
Sime will now be called Sime-Stromag SAS.
