Stromag of Germany has made several improvements to its NFA/NFF series of brakes for the control of long- and cross-travel functions on gantry cranes.

New features include IP66 protection with special seals, stainless steel components, and fixings. The body has been plated to resist corrosion and a hand-release mechanism has been added.

A proximity sensor is also now offered as an option on the electromagnetic spring applied brakes to verify the brake operation. The sensor works within the magnetic field and is an alternative to the existing microswitch.

The brakes range from 20Nm to 10,000Nm and can be assembled to the motor without having to dismantle them.
