SCX, based in Sheffield, UK, which recently won a project for its retractable concertina roofs at Wimbledon, and the world-first dividing retractable pitch for Tottenham Hotspur FC, also works in the aerospace, nuclear and defence sectors.
The company recently recertified for ISO standards 9001 (Quality Management), 14001 (Environmental Management) and 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) following an external audit of its business policies, procedures and practices.
The company also recently acquired Denley Hydraulics, expanding its design and engineering capabilities to support growth both in the UK and overseas.
In June, on its first attempt, it achieved the RoSPA Gold award for its commitment to health and safety in the workplace. Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running H&S industry awards.
“As a business, SCX naturally has a strong focus on quality, health and safety, and our environmental impact. The engineering solutions that we design, manufacture, test and install for customers are often to perform difficult and dangerous movements in often extreme conditions, so safety and reliability are always a priority,” said Tony Nudd, SHEQ manager, SCX.
“Maintaining our ISO certifications, alongside the fantastic achievement of a RoSPA Gold award, underlines how important raising standards is in everything we do. It runs through our business, in how our employees carry out their work, how we manage our suppliers, and how we deliver to customers.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s achievements director, added: “The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for health and safety worldwide.
“RoSPA is very proud of the achievements of its entrants, and with this award we recognise the best of the best, those organisations that have gone the extra mile, raising the bar for the delivery of safety in the workplace.”
