The Lookout Point rehabilitation work includes, but is not limited to, providing new operator cab and chair, new wire rope, inspection of main and auxiliary hoist speed reducers, providing new bearings and seals, replacement of electrical equipment and cont rols, including new motors and brakes, and minor structural repairs and modifications.

The new hoist and travel drives will be variable frequency drives. The Dexter rehabilitation work includes, but is not limited to, providing new operator cab and chair, new bridge drives, inspection of main and auxiliary hoist speed reducers, gear sets, hoist drums, providing new wire rope, providing electrical equipment and controls, including new motors and brakes, and minor structural repairs and modifications.

The new hoist and travel drives will be variable frequency drives. The Lookout Point crane will be available to the Contractor starting in October 2006. The Dexter Crane will be available to the contractor for on-site work in October 2007.

The magnitude of construction is between $1m and $5m. Requests for proposals will be available on or about June 9 2006 with a tentative bid opening 30 days after issue.

The contract is anticipated to be awarded in July 2006, and has a total contract period of approximately 21 months. A Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) shall be provided for all new contracts with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District.

For this project the person that will act as the SSHO is required to have a minimum of three years safety work with similar projects and a 30 Hour OSHA construction safety class, or equivalent, taken within the last three years.
