Konecranes (UK)’s crane regeneration division has been commissioned by Midlands-based Timken Dessford Steel to modernise eight of its cranes.
Konecranes will supply its Remox radio controls with interface control panel. New long travel brakes will be installed and new long travel conductors will enable an AC power supply to be put in. AC power will be used for the new functions but the existing DC supply will be retained for the main functions of the cranes.
Meanwhile Konecranes (UK)’s sister company, Lloyds Konecranes, reports that it is also increasingly engaged in modernisation projects. Traditionally, Lloyds Konecranes’ primary business is crane servicing, repairs and maintenance, while Konecranes (UK) is primarily a manufacturer.
But Lloyds Konecranes now describes itself as “a leader in crane renewal”.
