Taking place in Houston, TX from 30 September to 2 October, Breakbulk Americas promises three days of networking, learning and doing business.

Beyond the show floor

While the exhibition is rightly the main attraction, there is also plenty happening away from the show floor.

There are two all-day workshops taking place on the first day of the event. The first looks at enhancing your heavy lift industry knowledge and is designed for professionals involved in the transport and logistics of project cargo.

The second workshop will explore the potential of AI applications – a hot topic across our industry. This session aims to demystify AI by providing real-world applications in transport engineering, vessel operations and supply chain tracking. Participants can learn how companies are using AI for efficiency gains, risk mitigation and automation without replacing the human element.

Attendance is not covered by your entry ticket; there is an additional fee – and you must book in advance.

Meanwhile, the Breakbulk Main Stage will showcase business opportunities, strategy and aim to answer to the most pressing industry questions. It will feature leading breakbulk and project cargo executives who will provide insights into the latest business and trade intelligence. The programme also promises to delve deeper into key markets, sectors and issues affecting the whole supply chain.

Taking place over two days, the main stage talks will analyse industry megatrends, the global project market outlook and highlight the next breakbulk and project cargo business opportunities.

Taylor Machine Works produces heavy-duty, US-made lift trucks.

Women in breakbulk

The event’s Women in Breakbulk programme has gone from strength to strength since its launch four years ago.

This year’s lunch promises insights into a rapidly changing landscape, while the skillbuilding session will focus on collaboration – an essential tool in both strategic planning and daily operations.

The lunch event takes place on day one, enabling members to make new connections right from the outset of the show, with the option to continue these conversations in the Women in Breakbulk Lounge.

It includes expert talks on procurement and tariffs, LNG projects and initiatives around stimulating US shipbuilding. After lunch, an industry panel that will share real-world stories of collaboration from across the breakbulk sector, followed by a team challenge to solve industry inspired scenarios.

The main event

The main reason so many industry figures attend is of course the trade show. In fact, it was so successful last year that 91% of exhibitors rebooked for 2025. At Dockside Lift & Move, we have compiled a list of companies we feel are well worth a visit.

Taylor Machine Works, B40

Taylor Machine Works provides US-made lift trucks that have been vetted in the harshest industrial proving grounds. Founded on the principles of “Faith-Vision-Work”, it offers durable, dependable solutions to heavy lift requirements designed to meet demanding industrial needs, with models and lifting capacities that range from 4,000lbs to 125,000lbs.

At Breakbulk Americas, Taylor will showcase its X-550RC Removable Counterweight Forklift, and its Terberg Taylor Americas YT203-EV Yard Tractor. The X-550RC is purpose-built to comply with the capacity restrictions of ship gear cranes, allowing the unit to be lifted into the hull of ships to work heavy breakbulk cargo. The Terberg Taylor yard tractor is the most durable shunter truck on the market and is available in a wide range of capacities to handle the heaviest cargo towing needs.

Taylor also offers a wide range of BABA (Build America, Buy America) battery-electric forklifts and container handlers. These units range from 36,000lbs capacity forklifts, to reach stackers that can stack containers and handle breakbulk cargo up to 100,000lbs. The ZRS- 9972 BEV Reach Stacker can run for 16 hours – equivalent to two full shifts – and fully recharge in as little as four hours.

Other special lift trucks for the breakbulk industry include 72,000lbs capacity RORO specific low height lift trucks for working interior decks of ships; heavy capacity RR removable counterweight machines up to 100,000lbs, and a wide variety of small support forklifts. Hyster, F10

Hyster will feature high-capacity forklifts that deliver the powerful, long-lasting performance operations require, with configurability to meet unique operational requirements – including the choice of internal combustion engine (ICE) or lithium-ion battery power.

Earlier this year, the company expanded its lineup of integrated lithium-ion battery powered forklifts to lifting capacities up to 40,000lbs. The Hyster J230-400XD is available with a range of battery sizes to match duty cycle and charging requirements, configurable up to 280kW. The 350-volt architecture provides a right-sized solution for ICE-like performance and energy efficiency, offering long run times and minimal energy loss without the added cost and complexity of highervoltage systems. Hyster now offers this series of integrated lithium-ion big trucks with load capacities from 23,000–40,000lbs and 24in, 36in or 48in load centres.

Greenfield Products has an array of lifting and material handling solutions.

The company will be exhibiting the equivalent ICE-powered model on its stand, which is built on the same platform, provides the same lifting and travel speeds, and the same cab design. As operations adopt electric equipment as part of emissions-reduction goals, many will run both ICE and electric trucks. Highcapacity Hyster forklifts are designed to provide commonality across the product line regardless of power source.

Masaba, J14

Masaba will be highlighting its patented portable Magnum Telescoping Radial Stacking Conveyor and Low-Profile Drive-Over Truck Unloader.

The Magnum telescoping conveyor will extend and retract, as well as travel radially, to provide versatility and efficiency in loading a variety of vessels. Its onsite portability also allows it to be moved between loading points, for additional versatility.

An important feature that sets the Magnum apart amongst telescoping conveyors is its patented Masaba GEN2 Track Technology, which delivers constant positive traction and smooth operation of the stinger. Available in a single or dual drive, this ensures engagement between the stinger teeth and drives, improving long-term durability and minimising required maintenance.

Additional Magnum Track drive benefits include eliminating cable maintenance issues associated with winch systems – and the associated danger of cable breakage and uncontrolled rollback. Masaba’s load roller supports also ensure equal load distribution, minimising fatigue stress on critical components.

In addition, its Low-Profile Drive-Over Truck Unloader is designed for quick unloading of material from belly or end-dump trucks in a matter of minutes, without the need for the truck or a loader to drive onto or even approach the stockpile.

The key benefits are savings in labour and fuel, along with reduction of repeat material handling and improved cycle times. Worker safety is increased with the optional wireless remote control, while maintenance is reduced thanks to self-cleaning ramps.

When paired together, the Masaba Magnum and Truck Unloader comprise a customisable automated system that maximises output and performance by eliminating the double handling of material during the loading of barges and ships. As compared to stationary, fixed systems, these portable machines can work within a smaller footprint, and they also reduce an operation’s capital expenses.
