Arbil has branches in the West Midlands, Coventry and Bristol that support nationwide sales, service, testing and hire of a diverse number lifting and rail products. And for a business that both produces and sources a vast range of specialist lifting products, staying ahead of the competition in a wide number of sectors is key.

Coming of the back of its 50th anniversary in 2013, the company approached several parts of its business and in 2014, Arbil has secured Tractel and Enerpac accreditation and calibration centre statuses. It also has invested in the refurbishment of five wire rope machines, in addition to the successful launch of the Crosby Platinum range.

Servicing solutions According to Allan Webster, area sales manager of Enerpac, adding Arbil’s Bristol branch to the manufacturer’s exclusive list of authorised service centres was a logical move.

He explains: "We were impressed with all equipment Arbil’s service centres hold, including soak tanks, metal laundry systems, polishing boxes, along with all the necessary machine tools for milling, drilling, grinding, turning and finishing. Now, through its three accredited centres; Arbil can offer Enerpac servicing solutions for the whole of the UK."

Calibration partner

In addition to the Enerpac accreditation centre status, Tractel engaged with Arbil regarding a calibration centre partner. With Arbil the largest single seller of Dynafors, talks began.

"Our 25,000 ft² service, testing and calibration site more than had the capabilities to take on additional calibration jobs. As we are the largest seller of the range of eight models of Dynafors from Tractel, product knowledge and understanding is second to none. Now our customers have the option to return their Dynafors to the place they purchased from, limiting their number of suppliers," explains Dave Nicholls, general manager at Arbil Lifting.

For Arbil, the next step to improve its business offering in 2014 was to add the ability to manufacture wire rope up to 52mm in diameter. Now, the company has a fleet of wire rope pressing machines that include a 150t press, two 350t presses, a 500t press and a 1000t press. Platinum range

In addition, Arbil has used 2014 to launch the Crosby Platinum range that comprises new grade 80 & 100 components that have the added benefit of dual chain use with the grade 100 offering the "most economical and effective solution" when compared to competitor grade 100 solutions, owing to its compatibility and cross use with grade 80 chains.

Willy Caubergs, managing director Crosby Europe explains: "Our new Platinum line has been developed by the same engineers as our Kuplex range. The added benefit of these Platinum components is that they have dual chain use, meaning the grade 100 chain type can be used with both the 80 & 100 components. As with Kuplex; all of our Platinum Line components are individually proof tested to 2.5 times the WLL.

"The new line meets European chain standard: EN1677 & EN818, with full traceability and certification of each of our product lines accessible. At Crosby we pride ourselves on the highest levels of quality control procedures being followed and this is part of the reason why Arbil make the perfect partner."
