Netherlands-based Van Beest, a manufacturer of rigging including chains, shackles and hooks, has acquired the majority of the shares of Spanish company Irizar Forge and Norwegian company Load Solutions.

Irizar Forge, based in the Basque Country of Spain, produces hooks, crane blocks and related accessories with lifting capacities up to 5,000t. The company is a one-stop shop for specialist lifting and mooring applications, offering design, manufacturing, inspection and testing all done in-house. It develops customised solutions for offshore and onshore applications in industries including oil and gas, construction, marine transport, industrial processing, nuclear, mining, hydro and steel.

Richard Meer, Member of the Board of Directors of Van Beest, comments: “With the acquisition of Irizar Forge, Van Beest acquires a strong and well respected company in the lifting and mooring industry. It will not only expand our market position but will also increase the manufacturing footprint of Van Beest through the addition of a world-class production facility.”

Load Solutions, based in Norway, is the manufacturer of the Tycan brand of chains, manufactured from the synthetic material Dyneema. The chains are as strong as steel chains but are eight times lighter.
