Boat builder Princess Yachts, based in Plymouth, UK, has installed an additional 10 Street overhead cranes to add to the 20-plus that it is already using across its four manufacturing sites.

Eight of the new cranes are single girder 6.3t safe working load, with underslung hoists and dual speed motion on all controls. The other two are each 25t SWL, with two 12.5t twin hoists that can be used independently or in tandem.

Princess Yachts is one of the world's largest producers of luxury yachts ranging in size from 10m to 25m, and in price from $300,000 to $3m.

Hulls, bulkheads, decks and the boat superstructure are fabricated from glass reinforced polymer (GRP). Cranes are used at every stage of manufacturing: moving moulds from the store to the laying up area, moving fabrications and fittings into the build area, assembling craft, and moving boats out onto the water.

Earlier this year Street Crane supplied seven other cranes to two other manufacturing sites belonging to Princess Yachts. The biggest of these was a 48m span underslung crane.
