Contecon Guayaquil SS (CGSA), Eduador, operator of the Guayaquil Container and Multipurpose Terminals (GCMT), has ordered a third Gottwald HMK 6407 mobile harbour crane.

CGSA operates under International Container Terminal Services Inc., in the Philippines, a port management company involved in the operation of ports and terminals around the globe, where other Gottwald mobile harbour cranes are in daily use.

Gustavo Cercós, engineering director at CGSA, said: “The port of Guayaquil is Ecuador’s main international trading gateway. And the transition from public to private sector management and operation heralded a major new era of investment for the port.

“ICTSI is investing heavily in facilities improvement and equipment and the first two new Gottwald mobile harbour cranes, which were acquired immediately after the takeover of the port in 2007, allowed to establish efficient container operation in due time. Our experience with Gottwald has been exceptional good, and this applies equally to technology, service and short delivery times. That’s why we have decided to rely on Gottwald again to further expand our capacities.”

The Model 6 crane went into operation at the Port Guayaquil in August 2010 and is used for handling containers.
