Abus shipped the cranes complete with 10.5m-span girders to the UK from Germany.

The 40t-capacity double-girder bridge crane runs with two-speed motors for all motions, lifts with eight falls of rope and is fed power with an energy chain. Simple mechanical and electrical connections enabled CY to put it together, according to director Duncan Cook.

As part of the work, CY moved an existing 25t-capacity double-girder EOT to the next bay, overhauled its motor and surveyed a load-bearing gantry, among other works.

The 5t single-girder crane runs with four falls of wire rope.
