ABUS Grúas, a sister company of ABUS Crane Systems, has recently installed two single girder overhead travelling cranes at Prada Nargesa, a metalworking machinery manufacturer in Spain.
The new systems aim to enhance production by supporting the movement of heavy loads and optimising space usage.
Each crane can lift up to five tonnes and spans 18.7m, equipped with ABUS electric wire rope hoists. This upgrade addresses previous challenges in handling large components within constrained spaces, which had become a bottleneck as order volumes increased.
Located near Barcelona in the Girona region, Prada Nargesa is a family-owned company that recognised the need for advanced crane technology to keep pace with growing demands and changing processes. Conventional methods were insufficient for moving several hundred-kilogram components, prompting the search for a more effective solution.
Prada Nargesa managing director David Prada said: “It was clear to me that if we wanted to continue growing while improving quality and working conditions, we needed a well-designed crane system. And that’s what we found at ABUS.”
The collaboration with ABUS Grúas, part of the ABUS Kransysteme group, resulted in a tailored crane concept for Prada Nargesa’s production requirements. The installation includes single and double girder overhead travelling cranes that facilitate the safe and efficient transport of heavy components, while making optimal use of available facility headroom.
