China-based crane manufacturer Yuantai Crane has delivered two units of 40-ton electric wire rope hoists to a steel mill in the Philippines.
The hoists will be used for lifting and transporting heavy steel materials within the facility, marking a significant enhancement to the mill’s operational capabilities.
The client is a service provider in the geothermal, oil, and gas sectors in the Philippines.
Its business encompasses drilling, specialised steel fabrication, power plant operations, machining and CNC, engineering design, and geothermal services.
In the initial inquiry, the client specified a need for hoisting equipment capable of lifting 25 tons to a height of 60m, operating on a 480 VAC power supply.
Yuantai Crane initially proposed a conventional travelling electric chain hoist solution.
However, further communication revealed the client’s specific operational requirements, including the need to lift an 18-ton intake bulkhead during generator repairs.
Yuantai said the client requested modifications, including a lifting height adjustment to 70m and a change from travelling to a fixed-type hoist.
During the review, it was noted that the standard 30-ton hoist hook did not meet the required 130mm diameter for the intake bulkhead’s lifting hole.
Consequently, the crane manufacturer replaced the hook with a 50-ton capacity one.
After comprehensive evaluations, the client confirmed the requirement for two 40-ton electric wire rope hoists with a 70m lifting height.
The hoists were manufactured in compliance with ISO standards, underwent stringent quality checks, and were delivered to the client’s Manila facility via bulk carrier.
Yuantai, in its statement, said: “When designing a crane and hoist solution, it is essential to thoroughly understand the customer’s specific working conditions, including their operational environment, lifting requirements, and space constraints.
“This understanding forms the foundation for a targeted and effective design. The solution often undergoes multiple revisions to ensure every detail aligns precisely with the customer’s usage needs and performance expectations.
“By focusing on delivering well-engineered, practical, and customised crane systems, we not only meet functional requirements but also create real value that is recognised and appreciated by our clients—building long-term trust through quality and reliability.”
Recently, Yuantai has delivered two types of bridge cranes to a Jordanian industrial repair shop, enhancing local infrastructure and supporting various industrial applications.
The installation of the overhead cranes has improved productivity and safety, addressing the customer’s need for efficient heavy machinery handling.
