Green Pin, a producer of chain and wire rope fittings, has introduced a new shank hook at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, the US.

The Green Pin ROV Pro Shank Hook (P-6740P) is designed to undertake subsea lifting and support remote-operated vehicle (ROV) operations.

Made from grade 8 alloy steel, the Green Pin ROV Pro Shank Hook is specifically tailored for subsea release and retrieval tasks. A notable feature is its 3-in-1 functional add-on, which facilitates operations with both ROV manipulators and manual handling. This feature allows for the efficient opening, locking, and unlocking of the safety latch, thereby improving operational speed and safety.

The hook’s design includes a tip extension to maintain the safety latch’s position, enhancing precision and safety during operations. Additionally, its white and orange coating improves underwater visibility, essential for effective subsea operations. The hook accommodates a wider opening and saddle, making it suitable for larger lifting tasks.

The Green Pin ROV Pro Shank Hook is available with a Working Load Limit (WLL) ranging from 12 to 35 tonnes. It is certified under various international standards, including 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, MTCa, MPIb, USb, and CE, ensuring compliance and reliability.

Alongside the Pro model, the improved Green Pin ROV Shank Hook E GR8 (P-6740) has also been introduced. While it retains the essential design features of the Pro model, it does not include the 3-in-1 functional add-on, making it a cost-effective option for projects without the need for additional functionalities.

Both hooks are designed as grade 8 eye hooks with a long shank, optimised for subsea environments. Their wider openings and higher WLL make them ideal for handling larger lifting slings or attachments. The smooth finish minimises wear on lifting slings, ensuring durability and efficiency.

These products are suitable for a variety of applications, including offshore wind energy projects, oil and gas installations, and subsea pipeline constructions. The company will showcase the Green Pin ROV Pro Shank Hook at a webinar scheduled later this month.
