A Spanish steel processing company has announced yesterday it will invest USD 50M over the next decade to build a production plant in Union County, South Carolina, creating 65 jobs.

Gonvarri Steel Services, a subsidiary of Spanish BMW supplier Gestamp Corporation, expects to have the new facility in operation by July 2013.

The new plant will have a steel product processing capacity of 100,000t per year.

Gonvarri Steel Services CEO Josu Calvo said: "This new facility consolidates the internationalisation process of the company, incorporating our first centre in the United States, reinforcing our company as a multinational leader in steel service centres particularly in the automotive business."
