Big bag theory

Kito has supplied a manufacturer of chemical products with electric chain hoists for lifting the ‘big bags’ used in the production process.

Manufacturing thin chemical products, such as detergent tabs for dishwashers and washing machines, requires customised handling solutions, says Kito.

The hoist manufacturer works with plant builders, who create complete systems for chemical companies.

Kito supplied its ER2 hoist for handling ‘big bags’—the large containers used to carry bulk materials. The processes of accurately filling and emptying the bags are key to the overall production process, says Kito, with the bags sometimes needing to be lifted more than 10m and transported safety over other equipment.

The ER2 is most suitable for this application, says Kito, as it offers power and precision. The manufacturing process requires lifts of up to 1.25t, although the hoist can be configured for higher loads. Frequency inverters increase precision in both the hoist motor, for lifting and lowering, and in the power-driven trolley for cross-travel
