UK-based RS Industrial Services (RSIS) has acquired ACDC Cranes, a Sheffield-based provider of crane repairs and lifting equipment inspections, in a transaction supported by fresh investment from the Foresight Group.

The deal forms the first bolt-on acquisition by RS Industrial Services since securing backing from Foresight and marks the start of the company’s geographic expansion plans in Yorkshire and the Humber.

ACDC Cranes is known in the region for offering 24-hour breakdown support and overhead crane services.

Under the terms of the acquisition, the engineering workforce from ACDC Cranes will become part of RS Industrial Services, establishing a new operational hub in Sheffield.

This development enhances both companies’ service offerings and extends RS Industrial Services’ reach into a new area.

Clients of ACDC Cranes are expected to benefit from RS Industrial Services’ supply network and group resources, while RS Industrial Services gains a base to introduce its expertise in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The companies report that the integration should provide advantages to their respective customer bases and staff.

RS Industrial Services CEO Mark Cawley said: “ACDC Cranes is a fantastic business with an exceptional operational profile that aligns perfectly with our core values of safety, rapid response, and technical excellence.

“We want to thank the staff across the business and look forward to working together. With the backing of the Foresight Group, we are not just expanding our geographic footprint; we are combining our engineering expertise to reinforce our position as a market-leading service within the UK overhead cranes & lifting industry”

ACDC Cranes founder Nicky Turner said: “Joining the RSIS Group marks an exciting new chapter for ACDC. We are incredibly proud of the strong business we have built and the exceptional team behind it.

“Becoming part of RSIS Group provides ACDC with the scale, resources and expertise to accelerate its growth, while creating new opportunities for the business, our people and customers. Importantly, it will allow ACDC to deliver even greater levels of service and support to our customers”

The acquisition is intended to support the next phase in RS Industrial Services’ regional expansion.

In June, RS Industrial Services installed multiple jib crane systems at Dyson Technical Ceramics’ Crook facility to assist ongoing workflow improvements and operational developments.
