Cavotec was awarded the contract from port equipment manufacturer ZPMC, it has been revealed.
"This project reinforces our position as a trusted supplier to leading OEMs such as ZPMC," said Cavotec Shanghai managing director Gustavo Miller. "The considerable size of this order is also strongly positive for Cavotec."
The cranes form an important element of the Colombo South Harbour Development project, a USD 500m initiative that is set to considerably enhance the capacity of Sri Lanka’s main port.
Cavotec has worked on a number of projects with ZPMC previously, including the supply of cable reels for 13 RTG cranes to Northport Terminal in Malaysia for Japanese manufacturer TCM.
