Metreel claims that its new 4-Ductor offers the features of an enclosed conductor system at a cost which is competitive with the single bar option.
The crane market traditionally uses single bar conductor systems for the supply of power on long travel applications, mainly because it is so much cheaper than more sophisticated enclosed conductor alternatives.
The 4-Ductor comprises a channel housing, similar to Metreel’s Multi-Conductor system, containing four slots which accommodate the copper conductors. It offers current capacities of 35 amps to 160 amps, using continuous conductors which help keep the system voltage drop constant and low, a particular problem with jointed systems, the manufacturer says.
Metreel, based in Derbyshire in the UK, says that it is easy to install because all conductors are housed in a single profile.
