Cecchini Group, an industrial lifting and handling systems specialist, has installed two 2.5t overhead cranes to serve closely spaced work areas at a customer’s site.
The customer needed to move loads across two nearby transverse areas while retaining broad coverage and ease of use.
Rather than placing the cranes on the same runway, Cecchini installed them in different orientations to suit the available space and the customer’s operational requirements.
Cecchini designed the arrangement to extend the working area of the hoists by combining the two systems in a suitable configuration. Both overhead cranes were fitted with safety devices.
The company involved the customer in planning from the outset.
The work included consideration of the building’s structure, with Cecchini and the customer agreeing on column positions and the crane arrangement after assessing how the equipment would be used.
In June this year, Cecchini also reported completing a separate installation for a customer in mechanical engineering and automated welding.
That turnkey project used two Donati Sollevamenti GBL cranes installed opposite each other to provide coverage for a robotic work cell while maintaining safe access to the work area.
Each GBL crane has a 2,000kg load capacity and a seven-metre boom. Rotation, travel and lifting are electrically powered.
Cecchini said the arrangement allows loads to be handled within the work cell while supporting the robot’s operations. The company managed that project from assessing the customer’s needs through to final installation.
Founded in 1977, Cecchini Group is family-run and specialises in industrial lifting and handling systems and equipment.
