MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been commissioned by oil and gas services firm Bourbon to supply a 150-tonne active heave-compensated subsea MacGregor crane.

Set for delivery to China in August 2014, the installation builds upon an order for nine similar cranes from Bourbon at the end of 2007.

It will be used in the construction of a Bourbon Evolution 800 multi-purpose support vessel that is taking place at the Zhejiang Shipyard in China.

According to Frode Grøvan, sales and marketing director for MacGregor Advanced Load Handling, the manufacturer is building upon a successful partnership with the oil and gas services business.

"Ongoing experience of MacGregor's offshore cranes and Bourbon shared return on experience on previous order to MacGregor has played a significant role in Bourbon ordering another 150-tonne active heave-compensated subsea MacGregor crane," he adds.
