Italian crane and lifting specialist Donati Sollevamenti is targeting growth in European areas where it is less well established.

Speaking about the company’s plans for expansion, Giovanni Barletta, sales director of Donati, said: "Currently, almost all of the company's business is concentrated in the EMEA area. We are particularly well-established in France and the United Kingdom, where we have a network of corporate organisational structures that allow for local presence and direct contact with customers."

Barletta added: "The goal for 2023 is therefore to focus more on certain European areas that are highly strategic for us. To this end, a new colleague, Nathalie Culacov, has been brought in as export area manager to strengthen business relations with existing customers and seek new customers in areas that are less well covered. She will also be in charge of the distribution channel in France, working with Jose Fernandez, our experienced sales manager in the country."

Barletta continued: “Every customer must be seen as a source of potential for expansion that can further increase our business and profitability.”

With a continuous improvement of its digital tools, Donati says it has been able to further simplify the purchasing experience for its partners. Firstly, there is the Donati shop, a spare parts e-commerce site with brand new layout and functions. Then there are the Leonardo Product and Leonardo Crane Set Configurators, which are said to be ever faster and more intuitive for sizing and quoting for the company’s entire product range. Lastly, there is the Customer Portal, a new and exclusive personal area that groups all Donati digital services in a single screen and offers many tutorials on the maintenance and installation of the various lifting devices.

“We need to be proactive and gain ‘smart experience’ to gain future success,” said Barletta. “It is only by ensuring excellent customer satisfaction for our partners that we can be competitive, and digitalisation is one of the keys to achieving that goal.

“We have other plans for improvement that are no less important and involve operations and logistics,” Barletta  added. “We will introduce a new programme for the optimisation of production, implement a process of robotisation for the welding department, and purchase a new sandblaster."
