Matti Ruotsala has been promoted to chief operating officer of KCI Konecranes and deputy to the president and CEO Stig Gustavson. Ruotsala takes charge of day-to-day business activities.

“The board wishes to strengthen the top leadership as the group today faces rapid growth in its business,” the company said, explaining why it had decided to appoint a deputy for the first time.

Ruotsala, an engineer, has been with KCI Konecranes since 1982, filling various positions both in Finland and abroad. His most recent position was that of director of technology, since 1997. From 1994 to 1997 he was group commercial director in charge of acquisitions in Germany. From 1991 to 1994 he was in charge of Konecranes’s Asia-Pacific operations.
