Allied Power Products Inc (APPI) has added new versions of its Columbia winches and hoists which use a high strength strap rather than wire rope or chain.
APPI president Bob Peterson claims that a strap has the benefit of eliminating load rotation and spooling problems, and it is also easier to handle, inspect and install.
More than 100 standard models of strap hoists and winches are available in the line, with electric, hydraulic and pneumatic motor options. Hoist capacities up 5,600lb (2.5t) SWL and winches up to 12,000lb (5.4t) SWL are available. Customisation is also offered.
