One of the world’s tallest timber buildings, the Sara Cultural Centre in Skellefteå, northern Sweden, is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its opening.

Two Alimak Scando 650 hoists, one on each side of the building, and a dozen mast climbing work platforms provided vertical access for workers and materials during the centre’s construction phase, which started at the end of 2018 and finished in September 2021.

The 80m-tall timber building – which is both a venue for the arts and a hotel – consists of a low-rise section of four floors and a tower section on top, which extends a further 16 floors up.

Swedish rental company Cramo was responsible for the delivery of the Alimak construction hoists for the project.
