Global Lifting Services already operates in Trinidad, as Global Lifting Services (Trinidad) Ltd, as well as having operations in Nigeria and Egypt, but has signed the joint venture agreement with FT Farfan in order to widen its client base in the Caribbean. Kenny Wright, international director of operations at Global Lifting Services, described FT Farfan as ‘the rigging industry leader in the region’.

As part of the agreement, FT Farfan has become Global Lifting Service’s exclusive distributor in the area.

Global Lifting Services manufactures, supplies, inspects, tests and maintains lifting gear in the UK and overseas, while FT Farfan offers products and services to customers in Trinidad and Tobago’s energy, petrochemical, industrial, agricultural and woodworking sectors.

FT Farfan’s rigging manager Wayne Lyons will manage the joint venture locally. Lyons said: “This alliance is mutually beneficial and consistent with our business goals and vision.

“It means we can provide our clients with a world-class one-stop-shop with the technical support to back that up,” he said.

FT Farfan’s industrial director, Derek Cumming, added: “We have recognised a need to expand the scope of our lifting gear services, particularly for our marine clients, and this initiative allows us to provide a wider range and a service meeting international standards.”
