Hoist launches rigging advice column
03 April 2007

Hoist will launch a new rigging advice column in its April issue - out soon. The column, written by KOLO Hoisting and Rigging Handbook co-authors Judy Mellott and Lisa Olver, will start with the first installment of a two-part guide to bridle applications.

“We want to bring awareness to the industry for the need to have standards that are applicable worldwide," says Mellott. Readers are invited to pose questions and share concerns with our columnists.

To start, they explain what options are available when considering slings and bridle applications.

Mellott, who is president of All Canadian Training, has 20 years experience in the crane industry. She is an active member on the CSA B167 committee, revising existing standards to be in compliance to ISO.

To put questions to Judy Mellott or Lisa Olver please contact Hoist editor Richard Howes at rhowes@wilmington.co.uk, or get in touch directly at: All Canadian Training Institute inc. (ACTI), 100 10405 178 street Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T5S 1R5. Mellott can also be reached at judy.mellott@telusplanet.net. Alternatively, visit the website at www.allcanadiantraining.com.
