Pelloby extends crane runway at plastics factory
29 September 2017UK-based manufacturer M&H Plastics has worked with Pelloby to extend a bay of freestanding gantry steelwork, to increase the scope of an existing overhead crane.
Pelloby supplied an 8.1m-span crane for an existing gantry runway to M&H Plastics’ facility near Beccles, Suffolk in 2011, to serve a number of injection moulding machines. The manufacturer produces plastic bottles, jars, tubing and closing at the site.
The two companies then worked together to extend the gantry steelwork by 17m, using three single supporting columns and a double run of horizontal gantry beams. The increased longitudinal travel distance enabled the crane to serve three new injection moulding machines that had been added to the building.
The crane features a single girder design with 4m height of lift, and capacity of 2t. The long travel, chain hoist cross travel and vertical hoisting motions are electrically-powered and controlled from a single pendant remote.
