The LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) has unveiled the eighth edition of its code of practice for the safe use of lifting equipment (COPSULE).

Written by independent industry experts, COPSULE is widely regarded as the leading reference document for the selection, operation and maintenance of overhead lifting equipment.

The work addresses common causes of lifting-related accidents and supports safer working practices while providing practical guidance to help staff comply fully with relevant health and safety legislation.

Running at 430 pages, the book arrives in a "convenient, perfect bound" paperback format and looks in depth at a wide range of equipment, including hoists, winches and slings.

Also, for the first time, this latest edition incorporates a section dedicated to electric overhead travelling cranes.

The association has also launched the new version of its companion publication, the 'User's Pocket Guide to Lifting Equipment'

This is designed as a handy reference tool for workers responsible for carrying out lifting operations, this compact A6 publication offers at-a-glance information on key issues such as legal compliance, planning lifts, and selecting, using and inspecting equipment.

Both books are available direct from LEEA, with COPSULE costing £25.00 for member companies and £100.00 for non-members, while the User's Pocket Guide is £10.00. Contact LEEA on +44(0)1480 432801 or email mail@leea.co.uk for more details.
