Demag has outlined a number of new features found on its Demag E22-C travel drive, which is used for DC chain hoists that run on I-beam girders and also for the KBK light crane system.

The E22-C travel drive features control and detection of the motor speed via a separate rotary encoder. This facilitates master/slave operation whereby one of the two travel drives is preselected as the master unit.

This unit receives the speed command through the control pendant of the chain hoist and then communicates the speed reference value to the slave drive.

According to Demag, this arrangement enables strong synchronisation between long-travel drives and thanks to the combination with the RF 125 friction-wheel travel drive, this "virtually eliminates" any slip.

In addition, speed control from the control pendant provides the user with more convenient operation and when used in connection with a DCS-Pro chain hoist, the user can achieve even more precise travel characteristics owing to the variable long and cross-travel motions.

The universal E22-C drive is an integral element of the modular trolley system for the DC chain hoist range. When used in combination with the U22 push-travel trolley, it forms a unit for travel on parallel and sloping profile sections.

Used in conjunction with lateral steel guide rollers, the flangeless travel wheels provide smooth travel and a long service life.
