Certex has designed a specialised turning traverse for a customer, for the horizontal turning of sharp-edged components of different lengths.

The turning traverse is battery-powered, and so requires no power from the crane that manoeuvres it vertically and laterally. It incorporates a frequency inverter to provide a gentle start to rotation, and infinitely-variable speed control, from one to four rotations a minute—improving safety and efficiency, says Certex.

Using a double single-strand chain suspension, the cross beam can be attached to single or double hooks.

The turning traverse is suitable for long workpieces, handling components up to 8m long and weighing up to 1.5t. Two rubberised rollers with compartments on the traverse sides provide good torque transmission to the lifting straps, adds Certex.

PU-coated belts help to reliably turn the sharp-edged components, and the system is compatible with lifting belts between 30mm and 80mm wide.
