An engineering company has rented a top-slewing crane from Steenhoff, Potain’s dealer in East Frisia, Germany.

RMT Rohr- und Maschinenanlagentechnik (RMT) will rent the Potain MD 569 for 30 months, for handling the loading and unloading of deliveries at its Oldenburg facility, as well as supporting assembly work. The primary task of the crane at RMT is the precise positioning of individual pipe sections for assembly and production. The crane has a capacity of 25t and a maximum radius of 80m, with a maximum tip capacity of 5.8t at 80m radius. At Oldenburg, RMT mounted the crane on anchoring feet and set the hook height to 35m.

During the commissioning process, the MD 569’s CCS crane control system enabled the crane technician to complete all crane calibrations and limit settings from the cab, said Potain brand owner Manitowoc. This was completed using the CCS jog-dial control and color display, saving a significant amount of time and money for the company. CCS’s integrated diagnostic tool ensured easy monitoring of the crane settings, crane operation and maintenance status and measures, added Manitowoc, thus reducing the time required for maintenance of the MD 569, and in turn reducing downtime for RMT. The smooth operation of the LVF/DVF/ RVF Optima winch and the comfort of the Ultraview cab contributed to RMT’s success with the crane.

Martin Steenhoff, managing director of Steenhoff, said: "For its production, RMT needed a new crane solution that would allow the company to precisely lift loads that weighed up to 25t with the greatest possible jib reach. Together with Manitowoc’s sales team, we identified the most suitable crane and configuration for these requirements: the new MD 569.”
