Magnetek to offer Solcon soft starters

2 December 2002

Magnetek, a US manufacturer of digital power and control products and parent company of Electromotive Systems, has signed a partnership agreement with Israeli manufacturer Solcon Industries to market Solcon's line of low voltage soft starters in the USA.

The soft starters, for use with AC motors, range from the digital, full featured RVS-DN to the small, lower cost Sol Start.

Solcon's soft starters used to be marketed in the USA by Magnetek Drives & Systems, a division that Magnetek sold to Yaskawa Electric in 2000. The new line of soft starters will be marketed under the Magnetek brand out of the Magnetek Industrial Controls Division. Solcon Industries, based in Herzlia, Israel, is the world's largest manufacturer of low to medium voltage soft starters, according to Magnetek.

Electromotive Systems, meanwhile, has received UL certification for its Electrobar FS conductor bar system from Underwriters Laboratories.

Electromotive Systems claims that Electrobar FS is the only 'finger safe' conductor bar system with the UL listing in North America.
