Street Crane supplied three cranes to Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre’s Factory 2050, the purpose of which is to showcase advanced manufacturing technologies. This included two 10t cranes and a unique circular overhead crane that can lift up to 5t. Chris Lindley-Smith, sales director at Street Crane, says: “We had to pay very close attention to the end carriage wheel alignments and speed controls to ensure synchronisation, as the end carriage running around the inner track is on a much smaller radius than the end carriage on the outer radius. If we had got this wrong then the crane wouldn’t work. There are only a small handful of crane companies in the UK that would be confident to do this.”
