A programmable hoist control and load monitoring system has been supplied by LiftTurnMove to Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik.

Comprised of three Guardian 8-channel controllers and a 24-channel IBEX programmable hoist controller, the system provides control of the lighting, trussing, speakers and stage equipment.

Long-term partner in the region, Exton, approached LiftTurnMove (LTM) in early 2011. LTM stated that a practical and robust solution was worked out to meet the needs of the multi-use venue, with delivery and installation by Exton taking place over spring and summer of 2011.

Twelve LoadGuard Chain Hoists (eight 1t and ten 500kg) fitted with the company's proprietary Guardian dual phase encoders and a separate load cell, feedback to an LTM programmable hoist control and load monitoring system. The system, consisting of three Guardian PRO 8-channel controllers and a 24-channel IBEX programmable hoist controller, affords control of the venue lighting, which is supported on a custom Prolyte truss, and can be moved in and out of position.

The LoadGuard hoists themselves are concealed on an upper floor above the auditorium, supported on gantries with the load chain passing through a hole in the floor. The system allows for maximum flexibility while ensuring that rigging is never on show.

In addition, LTM also supplied a loose rigging gear package, including manual hoists, round slings and shackles.
