Engineered Material Handling (EMH) has introduced its EG Series hoist, which offers additional features to its E Series hoist for single-girder cranes.

The EG Series provides easier trolley adjustment, says EMH, with integrated and robust staging designed to stay tightly together during adjustment. This covers adjusting the flange width and beam type, with a longer adjustment tube maintaining better hoist integrity and tighter staging during the process, as well as during opening and closing. A newly-introduced hexagonal drive shaft also improves the process, says the company, and reduces the number of parts involved. An enhanced limit switch (upper/lower) provides better repeatability during raising and lowering, and a weight-operated limit is provided as standard.

New and improved safety features include a smooth acting rope guide, which tracks on a bar independent of the hoist frame to eliminate possible damage.

The hoist also has a more spacious enclosure to accommodate larger control panels and variable frequency drives.

The EG Series will ultimately be available with capacities of 3t, 5t, 7.5t and 10t, with lifts of 20ft, 33ft, 50ft and 65ft. One size of dead end support now fits the 20ft, 33ft and 50ft lift ranges, rather than requiring different lengths. The 5t and 20ft lift versions will be available first, with the complete range rolled out progressively by the end of 2020.
